Corruption,! DBKL Will Not Interfere In MACC’s Investigations – Mayor

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 – The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will not interfere in the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission’s (MACC) investigations involving its officers and staff, according to City Mayor Datuk Seri Mohd Amin Abd Aziz.

“It is MACC’s right to carry out the investigations. For me, my officers and staff have nothing to worry about if they didn’t do anything wrong. We (DBKL officials) will be working as usual,” he told reporters when visiting the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur Cleanliness and Area Rating Blueprint Site here today.

DBKL_02Mhd Amin said this in response to the media report that over 30 DBKL officers and staff were suspected of abusing their power to make quick money and enjoy the convenience of booking condominium or apartment units, especially from housing project developers, without paying the deposits.

A senior DBKL officer with a title ‘Datuk Seri’, who was arrested recently to facilitate in the MACC investigation on corruption and abuse of power, is
also believed to own 31 luxury condominium units worth over RM15.5 million.

Meanwhile, the city mayor said DBKL was in the midst of updating the declaration of assets of its top management officers and the process was
expected to be completed by next Friday.

“Of the total 26 directors, only 12 of them have yet to update their declaration of assets in our system. I have given them until next Friday to do,” he added.
